This sweet little biscuit made my job pretty easy. He was a champion sleeper. Then...just at the very end, when I was about to put my camera away he opened those beautiful eyes and looked right at me!! Thank you baby!

We went on a field trip this month specially designed for homeschoolers. It was hosted by The Strong Museum of Play in Rochester, NY. We learned all about a butterfly's lifecycle and did some crafts. Then we were allowed 20 minutes in the butterfly garden, which, in my opinion, was the best part of the day. In addition to hundreds of butterflies, they had a toucan (way smaller than I always pictured them), some turtles (one of which seemed to be doing yoga - see photo below) and a bunch of quail. Also, one really rad chameleon! The highlight was when Nolie got to hold one of the butterflies. An educational experience full of great memories! Please continue this month's journey, with a visit to the incredible Amanda Voelker Photography! >>> <<<
I can't really explain how much I adore this family. They are just a delight and I think these are the best images I have ever taken of them. It was such a beautiful and relaxed day. We took all their images in only 20 minutes and they still feel so natural to me. Until next time Bodow family . . . Yet another family with beautiful genetics! This is the second little boy I have photographed in this family and Xavier is just as cute as his older brother. I look forward to seeing him grow up! Here's a small look at what happened today. :) Sweet dreams little foxes! >>> <<< Some of my absolute favorite people in the world
and some of my all time favorite family images combined last weekend. These are the kind of images I always want to make. The kind that inspire me! Images that are full of genuine laughter, movement and real emotion. That capture people just as they are, not trying too hard to be proper or perfect. I hope they love them as much as I do and will cherish them for a lifetime. Destination Elopement | Niagara Falls, NY I had only "met" Sarah online and spoken to her once on the phone. The rest of our communications were via text messages. She and her fiancé are from New Jersey and planned a destination elopement with their son Brandon in Niagara Falls, NY. I drove 2.5 hours and they drove 7+ hours. None of us really knew the area. .After a brief ceremony, we literally just walked around together, photographing as we went. It was all so spontaneous and lovely! I'll tell you a secret, these small intimate weddings are my absolute favorite things! There are no rules! I can get as close as I want for a shot. There's no timeline or itinerary. No paparazzi guests. It always feels so genuine and romantic. So if you're planning an elopement or simple backyard wedding, give me a shout. I'd be honored to capture it all. Congrats Mr. & Mrs. and tiny Byron. Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness! >>> <<< After our homeschool day today I decided to take Nolie on a little field trip to The Wild. It was our first time there and we were so impressed! It was so clean feeling, which was refreshing for a zoo. The animals were so close and we could feed the non-dangerous species, sometimes out of our hand. Others we could feed through tubes. They have more animals than I took images of including :: Lions, Tigers (one is white), Grizzly and Black Bears, Porcupines, Kangaroo and many more. Next time I will bring a zoom lens to try and capture some of those animals. Here are the animals I did photograph :: Capuchin Monkey Squirrel Monkey Alpaca Bull? Dromedary Camel Emu Water Buffalo African Crowned Crane Reticulated Giraffe (They had names, but my daughter kept calling them Mr. and Mrs. Neck, LOL) My Little Bear Cub Watusi (He knew his name and came when he was called) Fallow Deer Grants Zebra North American Alligator Pygmy Goats Poison Dart Frog The Wild closes for the winter season at the end of this month. I am so glad we got to check it out before they shut down. We both highly recommend a visit. My daughter even coined it "the best day ever!" (But in all honesty, she has a lot of those, lol.)
